When Alan and I went to an Italian festival at Fiesta Gardens in Austin several years ago with a group of friends, we bought three hand blown glass balls. They are fun art. I love looking at them in this room. Yet, I do not plan on taking them with us. I feel they should stay with the house or be sold for somebody else to enjoy.
When I move from place to place I rarely transport furniture and other items, such as these three glass balls. Instead, I like to buy new furnishings for the new place that complement the energy of the new place. I feel that every residence is unique and should be furnished in its own personal way. Bringing along a few bits of the past can provide some continuity and tie together my/our overall life journey, but I chose wisely and sparingly. I prefer to be surrounded by new and fresh energy, not old and stagnant energy and I feel that new stuff to me – even if it an antique – is revitalizing.
