The gray guest room

I am open to learning from others and for that reason I feel that I have a rich and full life that consistently gets better. Years ago, when Alan and were still dating, we went to Las Vegas to visit a mutual friend and stayed in her guest room. I remember it being so luxurious. She had a down comforter and pillows and 100% cotton bedding that felt cool and comforting against the skin. I learned quickly that all natural fabrics feel best. I felt so pampered in her guest room. I knew that someday I wanted guests at my house to have a similar experience staying in my guest room.

When putting together the guest room, I also recalled some things I learned from Martha Stewart years earlier. Have space in the closet. Provide a bedside table and a table lamp. Buy a quality and firm mattress and replace it as needed. Stay in your guest room to experience it as your guests do.

I will miss our guest room. I get the feeling of being in a luxurious hotel or peaceful bed and breakfast when I stay in our guest room. I love to experience our house as a guest on occasion because it renews my energy. I bring Alan along and I am not sure he gets as much out of it as I do. When he goes out of town, I stay in the guest room and play pretend.

The new house we are considering will have a sun room that can be converted into a guestroom when we have guests over. We are going to try to make it as pampering. And, of course, I will test it out.
