The back patio

Within the past two years, we bought the perfect patio set for our patio at The Home Depot. We are both conservative on how we make big purchases and we lived for 9 years with adequate, but not spectacular patio furniture because it meant little to us. However, once we bought comfortable and inviting patio furniture, we realized what we had been missing. Also, in the 11 years that we have owned this house, all the trees have grown and finally provide a pleasing shade cover.

We have had a few people over for dinner at this patio table and chairs. For one of our friends, all the trees remind him of Michigan. In fact, a few more of our out of state guests have commented on the trees and had not pictured Texas to be able to grow so many different ones. I feel that people may view Texas as they do Arizona: dry, arid and desert. But, Austin,Texas has a lot of greenery.

I grew up with a tree filled backyard and I planned and planted one within a year of moving to this home. I know some neighbors thought I was crazy, “You’re going to have a forest back there!” All I can say is I am happy for my shade cover. I can go out in 100 degree heat and be protected by my trees. It gives me a feeling of the North – Massachusetts and Michigan – when I am in my backyard.

We love our patio set and entertaining on it. We will, however, sell it because we do not know how much deck we will have at the house we are considering. I love new furniture and the new energy it brings. I am excited for new patio furniture!
