The Back Living Room entertainment center

The back living room entertainment center

I am surprised that Alan and I have two TVs. I am not a big TV watcher, and he is not either. I rarely make time or want to watch TV because most programs do not capture my attention unless they involve sports, music, news, foreign language or history. If I am writing, the TV is on, but I am half listening. I do not, for the most part, have the attention span to watch an entire program and I am at peace with that. I feel that the TV is a mood downer in general.

This entertainment center is probably going to be sold. We are debating one or two TVs in the new home. In the house that we are considering, we would only have space for a TV in the front living room and in our bedroom. When I studied Feng Shui years ago, I read that having a TV in a bedroom is not good for the marriage. I am not really sure that I want to stare at a TV in bed. It is healthy to have an escape from technology. Electronic devices do not bring serenity. A person’s peace from within can actually be disturbed by something upsetting on the TV, in an email, on the phone, etc. I avoid technology for several hours a day. A pleasant painting in the bedroom instead of a TV is more thoughtful and peaceful. Staring at beautiful photos or art can be centering.
