The workout room

Our house has 4 bedrooms and we only need one designated guest room. Instead of making another guest room, I decided to make a workout room. I have a good girlfriend from my days at Arthur Andersen who had a workout room in her home and I got the idea from her.

At times in the past, I have used the workout room to do cardio videos and/or lift weights. But mainly, I stretch in the room. I liked the idea of a workout room, but I prefer getting outside to exercise in a freer manner. I see the great outdoors as my playground. I especially like the idea of biking around Austin once we move downtown. One of my first To Do’s after the move is to get our road bikes tuned and the pedals changed out for city touring.

I finally released the idea that I need a workout room. That has made it easier for us to consider houses that have 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. In the house that we are considering, the 2nd bedroom will be used for Alan’s office and the sun room will act as a guest room as needed.

The workout room is another excellent example of Less is More. We did not need this additional bedroom and attempted to utilize it as best as we could, but ultimately, it is a lightly used room. In the new house, I can stretch anywhere. I do not need a specifically designated workout room.
