The Fountain and The Front Yard

I remember when Alan and I bought the fountain how ecstatic I was. My parents have an outdoor birdcage – a primarily Florida thing – and in their birdcage, similar to a screened in porch, they have patio furniture and at least one fountain. When I saw their fountain and heard how soothing it was sitting by the fountain, I sought to buy one and put one near our front porch.

The Fountain helped to sell the house quickly. With every potential buyer, I filled the fountain and plugged it in. From the street, as buyers walked up to the house, they could hear the fountain and the calming water flowing through it. Most people love water and the soothing sounds of water – either at an ocean, lake or pouring over a fountain’s surfaces.

The woman buying our house asked if we planned on leaving the fountain and I said, “Of course!” It adds character to the house. It is part of this house and brings life to it and I would not take that life force away to try to recreate it at our new house; it would not be the same at our new house!

At our new house, we may or may not have a fountain based on the space and if a fountain seems fitting.

At our current house, The Front Yard looks good overall. I am happy that we planted the Bald Cypress, Italian Cypress and Crepe Mytle. Now, 11.5 years later, I realize that, for us personally, we have too many flower beds to maintain. I say, “Live and Learn!” I hope the new owner does something to improve the rock wall; that would have been our project next year if we decided not to sell. I look forward to seeing what the new owner does to The Front Yard. I already know that she’ll be keeping The Fountain.
