Laundry Rooms are not interesting, but they exist out of necessity. Some people decorate their laundry rooms; although, I have seen this more in model homes and it is not as much a reality for most of us. In most homes, the extra shelves typically contain items that are not quite ready to be dropped off at Goodwill. I know for years we had extra wine glasses in our laundry room and small kitchen appliance overflow that I put on consignment last year.
We never repainted our laundry room because we had a washer and dryer from Day 1 Move In, and it was not a priority for either of us to pull out the washer and dryer to paint in the laundry room. A few years ago, we bought an expensive washer and dryer with sales incentive points. Therefore, they were practically FREE, except for the income tax paid.
From having owned an expensive washer and dryer, I have learned that I use the Sheets, Bulky/Heavy Load, Normal and Hand Wash/Delicate cycles only. All the other fancy cycles on the washer and dryer are not needed by me and I would not spend money to get them.
Our new home is being built for a stackable washer and dryer. Therefore, we will be selling our fancy washer and dryer. Alan and I have already agreed to spend as little money as possible on our next washer and dryer. Our two top priorities are for the washer and dryer to be: (1) quiet and (2) self-balancing.
In our new house, I am thrilled to have a smaller laundry room because we will not have the space to store kitchen carryover in the laundry room.
