The Pantry and Storage Under The Stairs

Wow! We did have a lot of stuff. I remember when we used the pantry for small kitchen appliance overflow. I also remember all the extra stuff under the stairs. If a family has the space, they will fill it.

At our new house, we will have a pull out pantry that is about 1/3 the size of our existing pantry. This is refreshing. Alan has already said, “The pantry at the new house is laid out better.” A bonus: smaller and designed better. I recall when he wanted to call a closet professional to redesign our pantry at our current house: that project never became a financial priority.

On another note, Alan had always wanted a wine cellar under the stairs. Therefore, one year he had the space underneath the stairs finished out. We have had at times at least 70 bottles of wine under the stairs. We also store the Christmas decorations under the stairs and any miscellaneous sports equipment that comfortably fits in this location.

We have already depleted some of the wine by having a small party. The rest of the wine will come with us and I will need to find a temporary place for it. However, I will not be taking any Christmas decorations or a Christmas tree with us to the new house because I do not like packing. Eventually I’ll get new decorations that fit in our new house, but it may not be this year: I’ll need to create space for them first.
