After the Jameson Irish Whiskey tour, the group moved onward to Cork. Our guide, Robbie, with the careful navigation of our bus driver, gave us a city bus tour of Cork before we stopped in the city for lunch and brief sightseeing or shopping.
Cork is a vibrant city in Ireland. One of the must sees is the English Market. It is similar to Quincy Market in Boston. Many vendors sell fresh meat, cheese, vegetables, fish and quick lunch items. Both Alan and I said, “It is too bad Austin does not have something like this place.” The closest we have is Whole Foods on a daily basis and the downtown Farmer’s market on Saturday morning. After many trips to Europe, I have concluded Europe is better at the smaller market. Quality over quantity is a more marketable thought in Europe and I have always found this refreshing.
After a quick lunch at the English Market, Alan and I toured the Crawford Art Gallery. Robbie said it was another must see spot. Since I am only a shopper if I feel I need something, we spent the remainder of our hour viewing art.
