Day 7, our last day in Ireland, proved to be the most scenic. The tour company, Irish Welcome Tours, with the guidance of our tour operator Holidaze and our trip leader Georgia Lange, and generous spontaneity by our guide Robbie Dowling, provided a spectacular last day.
The Cliffs of Moher is a bus on top of bus tourist attraction and as we were warned, “Explore off the beaten path at your own risk.” I did not veer off the beaten path, but others did and they returned safely.
The winds are high, the cliffs are tall, no major guardrails exist and if anybody gets hurt, the policy in Ireland is “Sorry, Dummy.” Personal responsibility and no lawsuit.
Check out the beauty. This is an Ireland must and made at least one book of places to see before you die. Check!
On the way to the Cliffs of Moher, we visited St. Brigid’s Well. I would have loved to have something special to leave behind. Instead, Alan and I each left a foreign coin. This was one surprise visit for which I would have benefited from a brief summary by our guide before he sprung it on us. People travel from the United States with mementos of deceased loved ones to leave at the well. What people left behind was emotionally moving.
